Mac OS X Yosemiteis the eighth major release of Mac OS X (now named macOS), Apple's desktop and server operating system for Macintosh computers.

Begin installation
After the installation of the installer has been completed, open the Applications folder on your Mac, then double-click the file named Install OS X Yosemite.
Click Continue and follow the on-screen instructions. You may find it easiest to start the installation in the evening so that it can be completed overnight, if needed.
Allow the installation to be completed
Please allow the installation to be completed without putting your Mac to sleep or closing its lid. Your Mac may restart, display a progress bar or show a blank screen several times while it installs both OS X and related updates to your Mac firmware.
